Hell if you want one come to So Cal. Quite a few of the stores I go to regularly have a few mantis in stock. Tong's in Fountain Valley particularly usually has 3 or 4 mix of peacock, zebra and a yellow one I have seen in there a few times. Just the other day the store I get most of my stuff from was starting to tear apart a coral tank to get at a big peacock that had shown itself recently. Like you said the owner noticed it while he was at the sales counter, it had come up to the front of the tank and was checking everything out.

I like mantis shrimp, they look awesome. I think im in the bunch of ppl that like bristle worms as long as I dont see them. I know they help eat dead material and left over food and that they will almost NEVER kill a fish or other organism that isn't alrdy on its way out. The first time I SAW one was when I had to lift up a piece of LR to get my dead oscar's clown out from a burrow my goby made. Right by the corpse I saw a bristleworm as big as him so I attributed his death to the worm. I know now that desiease is a much more likely source but Im still not comfortable with them when I see them.
