Mantis Shrimp hitting glass.

people are always worried about mantis' hitting glass and i found a video of a peacock ( the one that says that shatters glass) hitting glass

lol well mantis can hit really hard. they dont hit hard all the time though

yea i saw that they usually just whack stuff around a couple times until it dies instead of just hitting it as hard as they can haha i love the sound they make when they hit stuff

Hey quader i have a question, could i put the LR around my piece of PVC so that the piece of PVC is in sort of a cave? I was thinking this because then it wont stand out so much and im going to use as little amount of sand as i can so i am going to try and cover up the rest of the PVC with the caves support LR. Would this work or would the shrimp knock it down?

It's sort of a common misconception that all of them are capable of breaking glass. Most species can't but I think that is something you would want to research. Honestly all the Mantis activity lately has kind of been making me want to get one for my empty 10 gallon.

haha jenglish the reason i decided to get one was because i had one in my tank and started researching and learned alot about them and i had a 10 gallon and learned that they are such easy maintenance and very cheap to take care of while they are such interesting animals that i decided to get one and now i cant wait to go get my LR tomorrow, just measuring how deep my sand bed will be and thinking of how the tanks going to look and thinking of how to aquascape now haha.

I had a mantis for YEARS w/o knowing it but it never touched the clownfish. I had never heard of someone keeping them on purpose back then and the LFS answer was straighten out a coathanger and stab him in his burrow.

I want to get my sump built, replace a hagen 402 with a K2 or K3, build a rock lift and replace my sand bed so it will be a awhile before that 10 gallon gets any attention

o and by the way quader, tampa bay saltwater emailed me back and i get to choose red or green and im going to be able to get one about 2 inches long so that i know it will accept the snails i will be giving it! I think im going to get a green one to make it stand out more in the tank
