I also have Neogonodactylus Wennerae !

Jeff, I C/P your spelling up there!

I'm like Jeff... I set up my tank using TampaBaySaltwater "The Package" and have (at least) two of these N wennerae gals. One I was able to swoop out of a bucket, and the other is in my display. The caught one is in my refuge, and her name is Barbarella.

I've not named my Dt mantis. It is pretty elusive, but has been out and about more in the past week or so.

Here are a couple of vague shots:

Yes, I've been feeding him... when he knows it's food time he goes up into a\the rock at the top of the tank (the rock in the first picture) and takes the food right out of the tongs I use.

AND! Tonight I saw Barbarella in the refuge, so she is alright. I was a little worried. Boy, was she hungry, too! Kept grabbing each piece of squid I offered until she had a real bundle held underneath her. I think you were right; she probably molted and now she's making up for it.

Hey Barb, would you be able to give this guy some advice on this thread?

http://www.thereeftank.com/forums/f1...as-118262.html

He has the TBS package with all kinds of crabs, shrimp, worms, and a mantis as hitchhikers. He is trying to figure out what to do about the mantis. Perhaps you can enlist Jeff to help out to.

Done! Wow he's had a lot of losses! That's very sad and upsetting for him , I'm sure.

Yes, he is actually to the point of talking about taking the rock out and just letting it bake in the sun to kill everything and then starting over. That is very sad.

Thanks for lending a helpful hand.

I need to get some sleep before work tomorrow, so have a good night.

Barb, that looks like a sasquatch sighting photo. lol

Are you still trying to catch the DT mantis?
Any casualties in your cleanup crew?
My peacock mantis has a pile of shells in front of his house.
He just got done molting. Locked up tight for over a week.
He's hungry now.

lol it DOES look like Sas, doesn't it.. that first picture?!

I do have a mantis trap, but I've not put it in the tank yet. He seems to leave the fish alone. I think he did in my astrea snails, as I've noticed my hermits moving into the shells as they get bigger. I am on the fence about trapping him.. touch wood...he hasn't been a problem, yet!

Side note; I probably should REMOVE some of the hermits.. they're getting huge. Refuge time!

I LIKE the mantis...he's so cool to watch.. creepy but cool (not as creepy as Charlie Br. tho)

Is there a way to get him to start taking nassarius? Because I think I have bazillions of them!

I think my wennerae in the refuge just finished molting.. didn't see her for awhile, and boy was she ravenous last night! Quite the piggy.

It would be awful to kill the rock! Does he have a chronicle? I'd love to read about the tank, more. Is he positive it's a creature that's killing the livestock? Could it be something different?

The whole point of TBS is the bio-diversity... bad hh's and all. I think it's that bio-diversity that's allowed me to be so naughty up to this point. (touch wood! touch wood!)

I read this guys thread late last night after I had fallen asleep on the couch while watching the Cubs games. I went to bed and kept thinking about this guys problems.

My first thought is that it seems like an aweful lot of carnage for a mantis and some gorillas crabs. 6 fish and 40 snails and hermits do not get killed by a mantis and some goriila crabs in 72 hours plus I dont think that they would kill an anemone so perhaps something else is going on in his tank. Theu do not just go an a killing spree to kill. They kill to eat. I too wanted more info and after I get to work this AM I will look at some of his other threads/posts to see what I can learn. My first thought is that the mantis and crabs are getting blamed for stuff they did not do but perhaps they were just cleaning up. With a clear head and more info I will see if I can help.

My thoughts exactly, Jeff. I'm going to look around to see what I can find out as well. It just doesn't add up!
