Peacocks, particularly large ones, should not be kept in anything smaller than a 30 gallon, in my opinion. Furthermore, large ones should be kept in acrylic aquariums as they can break glass. I second ZC's recommendation...either a wennerae or a smithii. Wennerae are incredibly popular mantis among hobbyists. They stay small and are very interactive, "friendly" mantis. They come out often, rather than staying in their burrows as some other mantis do. Check out Dr. Roy's list for a listing of species and requirements. The tricky thing about mantis shrimp is that they are often misidentified by fish stores and suppliers, so you may not get to choose exactly what you are purchasing.

There are a few online suppliers. You can certainly get a N. wennerae from Tampa Bay Saltwater. LiveAquaria sometimes has mantis shrimp in stock, but don't trust the ID. The same is true of www.saltwaterfish.com.

I have Taam Rio Nano skimmer on my 10G, this seems to work very well. My tank is up and running less than 3 weeks.
