Dual float switch auto top-off system with failsafe

I have made several of these for folks online and just thought I would offer some of the extra ones I have to anyone on thereeftank.com.

Basically, The unit is an Acrylic bracket with two adjustable liquid level float switches. The switch on the bottom handles daily freshwater top-offs in tandem with the top float switch which acts as a failsafe in case the bottom switch ever sticks on for some reason. In this case, your top-off pump would stay on only as long as it takes for the water level to rise to the second, failsafe, switch on the top.

I'm selling the one's I have left for 35.00 + 5.00 S/H

I still also have some single float switch setups for 25.00 + 5.00 S/H

This is my first post on this site, but if you do a search on Reef Central for my username you'll see good feedback.
Thanks, Matt.

Here's a single float unit.

I also will make custom brackets for any application, just ask.

They look really cool. I'm getting ready to make one myself. My only concern is 120V going through the float switches. I know it can handle the current, but I'm worried about voltage leaking into the water. I think I will run low voltage through mine to a relay to switch the pump.

Sure I can ship to California. 5.00 S/H will cover shipping anywhere in the US.

If you do want to get one be sure to let me know the distance down to your ideal waterline from the edge you plan on hanging the unit.

My Paypal is: ms71171@hotmail.com

Thanks, and please don't hesitate to ask questions,

Matt.

Great, I'll take that measurement and send it to you. SO this will turn on and off a pump? Do you have any suggestions for the pump?

The size pump depends on what size your tank is. If you have a tank 45 gallons or less you could use a 5 gallon jug with a couple holes drilled in the lid with airline tubing sealed with silicone. Then you would plug in an airpump on the the cord and once your water level drops the float switch will trip the airpump which will then pressurize the jug and push water back into your tank/sump.

For larger tanks all you need is a small powerhead like a Maxi Jet or something. The float switches are only rated at 20w which will handle any small to medium powerhead up to about 300gph. Then place the pump into a freshwater resovoir with tubing back into your sump/tank.

Matt.
