Request Members Only Forum Access HERE
Please read these guidelines before requesting access to the MOF.
1. Members shall be designated as inactive if their average TRT post per day is less than 0.5 (1 post every 2 days).
2. Members whose status is "Inactive" shall relinquish their access privilege in the Member's Only Forum. They will still be considered club members and will still have access to the open club forum.
3. Inactive members may regain access to the MOF by attending a meeting or by taking part in the discussions on the open forum and by maintaining an average post per day of 1 or more for 1 month at which time he will be required to maintain an average post per day of only 0.5 or more.
4. A member may be allowed to retain access to the MOF because of special circumstances that will be handled on a case-by-case basis (away on vacations, business trips, etc.)
5. The actual post per day averages cited above may change depending upon the results observed over the next 2 months.
6. Sponsors are exempt from the rules cited above and will permanently have MOF access privelege.
7. New members must have a post count of 50 and a membership duration of 1 month before getting access to the MOF. This is like the TRT rule that you do not get some features (paging, etc.) until you have 25 posts.
8. Club moderators have permanent access regardless of their average posts per day.
If you meet the above criteria then you are eligible for access to the MOF.

I guess I'm wondering how you would figure this out
Seems like only a manual count to me?
I only see how many posts per day average for my profile
How would someone know if they meet the posting requirements
I can understand the issue, I'm sure there are people on all different boards whose accounts are inactive. You see thousands of accounts on RC that haven't been used in ages, or have 0 or 1 post

The average post count is available in everyone's public profile...or at least I can see it...maybe because I am a mod?
Anyway, the issue is twofold:
There are a few members that visit, go into the MOF and then leave and rarely post anything or do not attend meetings. The new rules will prohibit such behavior.
We are not getting as much posting in the open forum from members that we could. This may be a way to encourage more members to post and join in on the discussions and generally be more involved in the club.

The only average post count that I see is the entire site post count. I tend to post more in the general site forum since there are great resources available there and that is how I did things before this group was started. I would just be concerned that you will lose some valuable resources if you control things by post count like that. I only post on things that I have experience with or have an interest in and typically don't post a lot. There are several sites where some of the people that I have the most faith in have very low post counts. It is not the quantity but the quality that is important to me!

I see your point. I was trying to use an objective metric but perhaps it is the wrong one. One the other hand, it is a metric and even though it reflects the entirety of TRT it does tell you something.
Maybe we need to restrict the Member Only Forum to those that attend meetings? Or maybe handle it on a case by case basis? However, this method would introduce subjective judgements into the metric. On the other hand, giving someone access to the MOF just because they signed up for TRT is not desireable either
We need something in the middle of the extremes. Any suggestions?
BTW, if anyone wants to request access to the MOF, you must go through the approval procedure by requesting access.

I have instituted the above rules effective yesterday. If any one has lost access to the forum and wants to regain access, please attend the next meeting. Please let one of the mods know if you have extenuating circumstances so that we can evaluate these claims on a case by case basis.
Losing access is really not a big deal, so don't take it personally. You can still visit the open club forum and you can regain your access to the MOF really easily.

Yes, you may be right. However, the requirement is not hard to meet.....1 post every 2 days is not asking too much IMO...also the rules allow for other ways to get access to the forum:
1. Sponsor the club
2. Attend just one meeting
3. Explain any extenuating circumstances to the mods
Please keep the comments coming along with suggestions for improvements or other ways to do this.
Although the rules have been implemented, we can always chage them, delete them or get rid of them if they do not work out.
So far no big problems with them that I can see, but everyone please use this thread to join in on the discussion regarding the rules.

FYI: I merged all my posts with the rules so that all the rules are in a single post at the top of this thread
