Incident?

What happened? What "incident"....nothing tragic I hope?
Mike, your tank is awesome....hang in there, have a few beers and sit back and enjoy your beautiful tank.

But I know how you feel....it has been hellfor me this past year. So much work and then everything gone. Getting my tank back has and continues to be a lot of work and I "get sick of it" sometimes too. You are not alone and I think it happens to us all once in a while. Hope you get in the "mood" again and Happy Holidays to you !

Have a good holiday as well!

Wow!

Holy Cow ! That is awful! Those are some really nice fish you lost. Now I understand why you are not in the "reefing mood" lately. That is really too bad Mike....again your tank blew me away when I saw it...it is really gorgeous. I moved quite amount of rock around this past year, but I did not move the base rock that sits on the bottom of the glass. I guess I'll learn from your post and I won't even think of moving it now. Thanks for posting your experience ...hopefully, as you suggested it will prevent someone else from doing the same and consequently ease your pain a little.

I sorta made a mistake like that myself when I used a 5 year old ORP probe to control my ozonizer. What an idiot I am! The probe DID calibrate but I found out later that it was not functioning properly. Anyway, this happened at the beginning of the year after my AEFW incident. What the AEFWs did not get, Chuck got the rest! Yup 100% loss of all acros after they slowly wasted away...totally my fault. 5 years of growth gone over a period of 2-3 monthsIn the end it probably was for the best.... I didn't have to worry about AEFWs anymore after that! I was losing the battle anyhow, but starting to eradicate them by just hitting them with a power head on a stick and letting all the fish gorge themselves on them. They actually fought each other to get the worms in the water column!

I still run ozone and i really makes a difference in water clarity. However, I have a new probe and I clean it every 3 days or so by simply soaking it in vinegar and lightly brushing the platinum tip with a tootbrush. I also periodically test it in a standardized ORP solution and will calibrate it frequently.

QT System Done

Over the last few weeks I managed to squeeze some time in to finish the QT system. It has been running for the last week or so, but no frags yet .

The top off is working nicely and I installed some eggcrate to hold frags and powerheads for circulation.

Next step is to add some new frags!

OK, now that most of the work is done, I'll take some time this weekend and take some pics of the tank, the fishroom including the QT system, and the meshwheel mods I did to my skimmer. I promise Robby, I promise!
