Cleaner Shrimp Died?
Ok i got a cleaner shrimp tonight and it died about a half hour after i put it in the tank.
I acclimated it by 30 hour tempt acclimate then another 45-60 mins of drip acclimate.
I already have a blood shrimp in that has been in there for months and i acclimated the same way or even less time and its still living with no problem.
When a shrimp molts how does it act? Could it be molting or is it a goner.

Cleaner
One time I thought one of my cleaner shrimp died but it was the old shell laying on the sand after he molted....

Phosphate
Not sure exactly, but I doubt that phosphate killed your shrimp. Maybe you got one that was stressed from shipping and/or care during transport/holding???

Have you picked it up and made sure it's not hollow?, When my coral banded molts It looks exactly like the the living one until it blows over and I see it's a split shell!

I would get the body, bring it to the store and attempt to get a refund.

well i got the shrimp for sea creatures. I know its the whole body since the eyes are attached and everything. I already got a ton of hermits all over it so i dont think there will be much left. Besides i dont think they give refunds. But what do you think was my acclimating method wrong. My levels are fine. Could there have been something wrong with the shrimp i nthe first place?

It sound like everything was fine. I'm assuming you meant a 30 temp acclimate and a 45 min drip. which is backwards from how I do it, I drop acclimate them for 30 min to 4 hours depending on what it is and how I got it then put the container in the tank to temp adjust for 15 min or so just before I put them in the tank, But even doing it the other way shouldn't have killed it unless there was a big difference in temp by the time you droped it in the tank???? Don't know, Oh I also turn out the lights when aclimating and introducing new critters, it's less stress on them

I usually float the bag for 15 minutes while I'm setting up the acclimation.
I've never done a drip. I dump water in by the cup or 1/2 cup every 15 minutes depending upon the amount in the bag
Usually 45 minutes acclimmation I think
I've never had a problem with shrimp following this method
I need a 2nd cleaner, one of mine died after months

Could be, how do you drip? Do you just drip for 45 min without removing some of the water as you go and go right to the tank or do you remove water as the drip is going on so it gets more and more like the tank water as it goes. But honestly It shouldn't have had a huge swing in ph from the store to your house unless it was really low or high to begin with at the store. waht causes a ph drop is carbon dioxide build up in the bag but generally this is only a big problem when shipping or long hold times in a bag.

Sea Creatures
John Rodriguez (proprietor and owner of Sea Creatures) is a fair, resonable guy. If you tell him that the shrimp died the day you bought it, he will most likely give you another shrimp. Oh yes, it would not hurt to mention our club as well. Keep me posted....I know John really well and would be glad to talk to him in your behalf.

as again for my drip method. No i do not take out any of the bag water as i am putting in my tank water.

Acclimation
I always use the drip method. I dump the animal in a small vessel along with half of the water. I then drip acclimate until the vessel is full. Then I dump out 1/2 of the water and continue the drip then repeat this for around 45 minutes to an hour depending on the type of animal.
You really need to keep dumping out the water to ensure the water is "mostly" tank wate at the end of the acclimation period.

you know what i think i know what it is. I checked my sg and its sitting a lil high at 1.027 probably because of evap from my metal halides. So depending on the SG that sea creatures keeps its prob what did it since they are sensitive to SG change. Im guessing their SG is more along the lines of 1.025. What I am going to do is do a few water changes with just RO water over the next few days to get it down to 1.025 and then try again. I think this one was my fault now that i checked some things over.
