As I posted previously in another thread, I am having trouble with my short term memory which resulted in a freswater overflow in my Q tank and an SG of 1.010

..
So I gotta try to automate the top off. The problem with level controllers on a 10 gallon tank though is that they are not accurate enough. By the time the level drops to where the controller turns on the top-off pump, the salinity would be too high.
So I am going to try to "dose" RODI water. I will first estimate the eveporation rate by measuring the water level for a few days. Then I'll use a gallon jug full of RODI as the FW topoff. I have a small Aqualifter pump that I'll use for the
dosing pump with some water tubing and a valve. I'll set the flow rate much less than what is needed at first and then increase it over a few days. I would rather finish the top off at night instead of adding too much water automatically during the day.
Has anybody successfully implemented a
topoff system without a level controller?
