im running a tunze osmolator for my main tank and it is the nuts. optical not float so it keeps amazing accuracy.
on my smaller reef i have a float and power head. they are used on a timer as well so top off is only for 2 min 3x at night (dosing kalk) that way if the float fails ill only be pumping a few extra min not the whole bucket. when i wake up in the morning if it needs an extra min or two i manually hit the on switch of the timer.

top off was the thing i hated to do the most b/c i knew if i missed a day water quality was afftected. topoff units take alot of work out of keeping a tank. once you have the topoff down you can start to play w/ kalk. now your doing more then just topping off.
the osmolator has totally turned me onto tunze. im trying to save up for the new nano's.

Top Off

For the Display system:

I use a Reef Filler Pump (not sure which one)
http://www.championlighting.com/home.php?cat=386

and an electronic float switch
http://www.marinedepot.com/aquarium_...ch.asp?CartId=

The Reef Filler pumps water from a 10 gallon rubbermnaid container that is filled by my RODI. The level is controlled via a Kent Float Valve.

For the QT:

I use an aqualifter pump that pumps water from a small water container to the QT sump. The level of the sump is controlled via a small electronic float valve that is wired directly into the aqualifter power cord. The RODI also fills this container and is controlled via anotjher Kent Float Valve.
