The Reefnecks 120G 3 sided show tank
Recently aquired this beautiful 120G show tank with custom stand and canopy for 3 sided viewing. The canopy has 2 250W Mogul based halides with a Hamilton ballast & 4 T5 Actinics. 4 fans blow out the top and one to circulate air within the canopy. The tank itself is custom built with the overflow centered on one end. All the wiring runs through PVC in the overflow and down into the stand. The are no visible wires outside the canopy or tank. All the livestock came included and some very nice club members moved it for me on 12/23/2006 to my home and they set it back up for me with the canopy being the only thing left for me to do. On Christmas day a friend and I hoisted the canopy on top and another friend came over to help me wire up the lights. As it stands today, The tank is running and the lights are all working and on timers.
There were some big losses in the move but I can't blame the moving team. Not sure why they died but there was over $300 in fish that died. Others made it fine.
R.I.P.
Sailfin Tang
Hippo Tang
Naso Tang
Foxface Lo

Altipinnatus Anthias
2 Cleaner Shrimp
1 Pistol Shrimp
1 Colt Coral
Alive and well.

Lawnmower Blenny
Fire/Blood Shrimp
Mated Pair of Gold Stripe Maroon Clowns
1 Flame Hawk
Many Hermits & Snails
1 Pistol Shrimp
3 Emerald Crabs.
All Clams
Most corals
New addition:
FoxFace Lo
I will slowly be replacing the lost fish as finances allow.
The following are some pictures of how the tank looks today. I feel that it needs aquascaping. There is 200LBs of Fiji Premium Live Rock in there and to me it looks just like a pile of rocks right now.
Please give me your opinions. I have never had to aquascape a tank with 3 sides viewable.
Here are the pics:

Ye I think it needs rescaping with less rock. And that will be a fun job with the canopy on the tank, not much room for arms in there with the way the lights are.JMO

Wow! a lot of really nice stuff. As far as aquascaping... I probably would have done the same thing on a three sided tank. I'd Pile the rock in the center the best I could. Only thing I may have done different would be, I would have put like a valley in the middle if I could. It allows light to more surface area and it is a nice place to show off a Pièce de résistance in the future. I have to have lots of flat spots in my reef to rest coral b/c much of it is small and I have to keep my eye on it daily. This somewhat limits my aquascaping design in my own tank. I want a natural looking aquascape but I have to nail everything down if I go that route and I am looking to frag everything I got very soon, and would like an easy removal. Perhaps when I am done fragging I will make it look more like yours. Do you have a list of the corals. You have a beautiful BTA. Good find on that tank, she's a beaut.

I thought the same thing about the rock, if he moves it in the tank, theres really not a lot of space left to move the rock in the tank. That sounded better in my head, but I think you know what I'm saying.

You are right about that Robert! Not much room to work for sure. Just had to get the lights going because I had Chemo yesterday and I am not going to feel like aquascaping right away. Just have to aquascape without taking rock out. Thats going to be fun.
I don't have a list of all the coral that's in there but I'll try to make one up in the next few days.

Hammer Coral
Frogspawn coral
Chili Coral
Sun Coral (orange)
(2) toadstool leathers 1 large 1 small
Flower Pot Coral

There are also about 5 - 7 of these small things on 1 rock that we're trying to ID. They look like extra-mini clear bubble anemones or corals. They have a bit of a "stalk" to them and then a mass of small clear bubbles on top. None of them have moved from their location.

LOL Hope so!! There is also a steel I-beam that runs the opposite direction to the joists about 3 feet out from the wall.

Louise try and get a close up of the bright green anemone on the bottom corner, the picture doesnt do it justice! You could always put some rock down in the sump and still get the filtering benefit from it, if you wanted to aquascape differently. It sure is a pretty tank, I am glad I got a chance to see all the tanks you guys are doing a great job on all of them. You need to charge admission to Reefnecks aquarium house.
