I got this answer on RC rergarding the red tubing...
"It allows for cooling of the magnet. The impellers that Klaus has made for the Laguna motorblocks are larger than the stock impeller (well, the magnet is larger). The larger magnet allows for very little convective water movement around the magnet for cooling...so, the "anti lime bypass" was installed, cooling the magnet, which decreases the calcium preciptates in the magnet well and shaft bearings (calcium precipitates faster at higher temperatures)"

Knock on wood, but the tank is really looking good and the corals appear acclimated to the South Pacific bulbs.
Duud, we took your advice and purchased a few lens covers. Hopefully, Teach will take some new shots and post some pics this weekend.
