Recap of my time spent in the hobby.

May 2006 My first reef tank 72 gallon bow. Not even enough corals to see in a picture.

July 2006-same tank just more coral

October 2006-Got a good score on a 75 that I rehabbed

Novemeber 2006-converted 100 gal to reef

March 2007-The 100 after a tank move-Hours before it busted-The corals weren't in it even 3 hours.

March 2007-125 to replace the 100. It was only a little bit more $$. I had also come off of VHO's and onto 400 watt MH there are 4 but at the time of the pic there is only 3.

June 2006-150 gallon-I found out 125 and 150 had the same footprint. Got it up and running 1 week ahead of schedule with the help of a reefer friend. Scheduled wet date was 7-1-7.

I have given away about 150# worth as the demand for sandbed has become greater. If I had my way, I'd have it loaded to the gaff with rock, but many of my LPS's just aren't happy without being nestled in the sand.

I had a closed loop go out on me last week and it took me a week to find an adequate replacement. As a result, I have been battling a bad outbreak of cyno.

I have taken the following steps to combat the cyno:

Letting the tank fast for several days. Physically vacuming the cyno out of the tank. Increasing flow by getting both closed loops back up and running. A double shot of Kalk. I have blacked out the bottom of my tank b/c it seems the cyno is growing mostly on the side that has my phyto farm (high light) underneath.

My next step will be decreased photo period if I do not see an improvement soon.

The last time this happened was when I had a problem with my closed loop. It took approx 2 weeks to get rid of all of the cyno by just using increased flow.

Thank you for the encouragement.
