**********************************************

Initial Design:

My 20 tall prop tank was crowded and there was no room to reintroduce frags back into the 180 system, so I decided to create a SPS dominate, bare bottom system without MH lighting. We had a 55 and 75 available, but with a 90 / 180 already running I wanted to try and stay small (time will tell haha)...

I'm a firm believer in trading and a lot of the stuff we have traded has come back in the form of free or inexpensive items that were needed to make the system come alive. Basically, the lighting was the only thing I spent major bucks on (I normally buy "middle/high", so hopefully the cheaper lights don't disappoint me later).

I originally had a SEIO 1500 in the system (which pushed the flow rate to 100X ), but decided to pull it when I lost my Foxface... A new fish will be purchased soon.

**********************************************

Initial thoughts:

Parameters are good...

I've read where colors change to pastels in a T5 system. This seems apparent with the 40, but I like the lower heat and clean, open look.

I do know that the tri color corals will " look M-a-r-v-e-l-o-u-s "...

I will post pictures later tonight or tomorrow. Enjoy!

True. I am ready to see pics so I can get some ideas.

Are you using an auto top-off? How about dosing?

Gotcha... No auto top off at the present time, although it is planned in the future. Just doing 2 part (for ALK) now. When the SPS start growing, I may incorporate a small Calc reactor.

Dacro's tank looks great. The t5 setup is a good clean look. He could hold up a 400 gallon tank with that stand.

Smart A... Yeh, when I added the top and sides it looked like some sort of Tonka truck or all terrain vehicle.

All kidding aside, it was a great idea to use a formica top. Also, thanks for letting me borrow "Paul" to make those 1st cuts...

Thanks Paul! I need to install the American DJ to help clean up the electrical cord mess, then I will take some pictures of the sump area, etc...

Also, I have the front panel (of the stand) secured with velcro. Although this looks OK, I am not real happy with the design and will rip the panel, add some molding and install as doors.

This is a good looking tank. I like the rock work. Did you secure the rock together with something?

Thanks guys!

Mike: No, the rock is wedged in pretty good... I originally wanted three separate islands (kind of like 3 towers) and had two pieces that scaped really nice, however with all the frags I needed to employ more rock to provide growth areas.

It seems like Teach and I changed the scape a hundred times haha... I have more room for frags in the back portion on the right side, but wanted to see how things grew in... I may throw another small rock in front to display more Montipora.
