I need Help! I have a 120 gallon sw tank, 1 skimmer, I bio wheel, and hydro. My fish include two tangs yellow and blue, two clowns (nimo). Cleaners include 6 hermits, 5 snails, and in process of getting the shrimo once my water problem subsides. I have had the tank for 3 months. First time saltwater tried. My problem is the nitrite.
I have tried the water changes. 30 percent even. and the nitrite is still high, about 3.0 PPm. I also tried to stop feeding for two days and also added salt 1 teaspoon per 10 gallons. this is day three, and my fish are shimmying, or shall I say in disstress. everything else is in order. nitrate at 30PPm. ph 8.3 alklintiy is at 180. I did have a nitrate problem but I seem to have that under control. What am I doing wrong?
