I will use this blog for updates on the 2.5 gallon nano I am building. It will have a custom stand, canopy, and will be drilled with a 2.5 gallon sump. Here goes nothin.

Drilled out the bottom today.

Picked up a 1/2 inch bulkhead today at work

Both tanks and plumbing so far

Sump tank and HOB Penguin 100 filter

Return bulkheads, 90 degree fittings, and modular tubing

I drilled one of the returns today. I am waiting to drill the second one until I get the PVC I need for the overflow. I also picked up a QuietOne 800 submersible pump from work today and it cannot keep up so I will try a 1200 tomorrow and if that doesnt work I will put in a 2000. I am gonna call around to plumbing companies tomorrow to try to find some scrap 6" pvc for the overflow. I will add a few pics to keep everyone happy.

This is the dremel I am using w/ a pointed Diamond bit for drilling the holes in the glass. I am running it on the slowest speed. It takes maybe 7min. to drill a hole.

Here is a full tank shot as of right now

Here is a close up of one of the returns

I have started to cut the glass for the overflow box. I have to now shorten it a half inch and let my wife cut the teeth for it. I am too impatient and can almost guarantee I would snap them. I will update pics once that is done. After that I will paint the overflow and the back and bottom of the tank black.

The Quietone 800 could not keep up with the flow from the bulkhead....granted I did not have the overflow built yet but I decided to step it up to a Quietone 1200 instead....if anything I can dial the flow back a bit.

I will post updated pics tonight. I have painted the back and bottom of the tank black. I have siliconed the two glass panels to each other to create the overflow box. I will attempt to silicone it into the tank tomorrow.

Sorry it took me forever to get new pictures put up.

Here is where the tank stands as of right now. I will hopefully be able to start building the stand for it in the very near future. I have tested the return pump and I might dial it back just a hair but it seems to be a perfect match. I am thinking about putting baffles in the sump tank to help keep micro bubbles out. If I go that route I will also add a small spot to keep some chaeto algae as well.

This is gonna be one hell of a desk tank. I just picked up a 14gallon BioCube last night at work to. Traded in a bunch of frags for it.
