Ok then. I have never had a blog before so this will be interesting. Pretty much what i have been told about having a blog is that it is an online journal.
So i guess i will start off that I know just about nothing about saltwater aquariums. I had a ten gallon freshwater for years. went to 20 gallon. but it just wasnt enough. it was like an addiction. I had to have more. but just going bigger wasn't going to cut it. I had to do something more difficult. something like saltwater. I've seen other people with saltwater tanks and just admired their tanks. I have always wanted to have these tanks that look like the ocean. Well one day i decided to convert my 20 gallon long to a saltwater. well i did and have been hooked since. but i tried going at it all the wrong way. i tried to cut corners and have found out that, that doesn't work.
I had came across a 125 gallon fish tank. got it home and started putting saltwater in it. well before i could get it fully cycled, the tank sprung a leak. well a leak is as understatement. I went to work the tank was full. i came home and 3/4 of the water was gone. all on the floor. luckly my house is sloped just enough that all the water went to the outer wall and just happened to drain out a crack in the floor. stupid me i tried to fix it well like i said not really a leak. more or less the front right seam broke completely. I ended up pulling the whole front panel of glass off the tank and attemped to reseal the tank. 1/2 inch glass 72" long and 21" high is kinda hard to handle by yourself. yeah the seal didn't look that great. held but looked ugly. then tried to paint the back side of the tank blue and ended up cracking the tank. Sad sad day. Again attemped to seal the tank and just never have put water in it since.
20 gallon is still going but need to upgrade the lights to either PC's or T5's. cheapo me still has regular tank lights that you get at pets-mart. T8 fixture claims 18k 20 watt but just not enough light. Turning everything brown. wrong spectrum of light.
