Ok some of you read my first experience... sigh
Well I went out yesterday and bought a 40 gallon sump had it custom drilled and picked up the new bulkheads.. about $180 because the only dealer was a rip off on some of the work, but w/e.
UPDATE ON ROCKS
I split about 300lbs of rock into two 32 gallon garbage cans mixed salt water with my tap water and put some chemical water treatment into it.
One can has 3 powerheads 125 gph and the other has one rio2500 in it.
Each morning I will switch the powerheads... (side note: the rocks are covered with crazy life .. little worms baby starfish tons of corraline)
Update on tank
We had to remove the tank from stand to get the sump in.. WHAT A PROJECT.. we ended up leaving half the tank on stand and the other half we laid on top of a sofa back that was exact height and this worked well..
Plumbing
We originally cut 4 pvcs to move the tank (returns and overflows etc.) I bought couplings and cement will repair tomorrow. The
Protein skimmer is external to sump and has a 1 and 1/2" bulkhead.. I was able to get a new bulkhead and fit it all together (YAY) The tank return is much harder however. The return pump is external 3,000 GPH and has a 1" bulkhead to the sump. I got the bulkhead but the union that was used had to be scrapped and I can not find a replacement. Apparently the plumbing world does not have a standard when it comes to threads... Embarassing.... Each company makes couplings and unions and stuff and the threads for the SAME SIZE are all DIFFERENT !!!!!!!!!!!!! I will have to jimmy rig it or look online for that company...
The scratch on glass will be handled by a molding strip similiar to top and bottom of tank.. I think this will work perfectly and it looks pretty nice...
Investment Update
$900 initially for equip.
$200 for cans and lunches lol
$273 sump and a ton of other equipment powerheads etc.
..................total.............$1373.... (still need lights)
Things to do still
Find a peice to connect return pump to bulkhead
Cement all my unions together..
Sure up the floor I bought lumber ($70)
Install R/O filter I got all the equipment necessary.
Start thinking about LIGHTS and build my own Canopy cap
After this I should get the rock and water into the tank
(pray every night there are no leaks and it holds water problem free)
