I just got the maxijets modification parts delivered yesterday. Will be working on getting them assemble. I am also working on my skimmer, the first wet test was bad, water was leaking out of the ventury valve, I am working on fixing that but I will post a picture of the skimmer as is now.

Well, the jury is still out on the maxijets mod, it is true that they seem to move more water, but I wonder if it would have been better to get a couple of Seios, the price for them would have been very close to the same. Looks like the MJ mod would be good to do if I had the MJ just collecting dust and not being used, now that I change them I can't go back. I guess I was specting more flow that that. Oh well.
my skimmer is not done yet, I need to get some more PVC cement to finish it up. Should finish it in this week.

After much work the skimmer is finally skimming, not finished yet but producing skimmate. I want to replace the pump for a bigger one. Here is the skimmer and skimmate, the black line shows where the skimate was two days ago before I close the valve some more. It is skimming very wet right now. I do not want to mess with it too much right now because I am changing the pump and I know I will have to tune it again. That is a 5gal water bottle. I probably have close to 2gals skimmate now.

This is how the tank looks like now, after I took everything out to catch a Yellow Clown Goby that decided to nip on my clams.

I put in a Seio 820 today, that is a good amount of flow. My two modified MJ1200, I estimate about 600gph each, plus the Seio, I have around 2000gph not including the return pump. this is around 36x turnover. I think I need one more Seio or a mod MJ.

After a couple of months of being in my tank, a Yellow Tang decided he was going to start nipping on my green open brain. I could not have it, so he is on holding to go to the LFS.

I just realized I did not update last time I got fish. Here are pictures of my new habitants. While on QT, the speudochromis started beating up on the firefish, so I had to put the firefish in the 55 and the gorgonia and "Barnie" stayed in QT.
Unfortunatly, the firefish did not make it, and with the YT needing to be out of the 55, I had to put the gorgonia and "Barnie" in the main tank sooner than I wanted to. They both seem to doing fine. The YT will go back to the LFS tomorrow.

I like the gorgonia very much. After a couple of hours the polyps came out.

Well, the Yellow Tang when back to the LFS, I probably would not have him for much longer anyway since it was growing kind of fast. Got 4 green chromis, they are supposed to be exclusibly meat eaters, hope to have better luck with these.

WOw, it has been a month since I updated my blog.
1 of the green chromiss died, he had a couple of bruses on its side and the next morning it was stuck on one of the Seios.
Added 2 more Seios 820, took one of the mod Mj out. My office was getting very hot and I had to use a fan to keep the air moving. Will see if having one less mj helps.

I had been running regular fluoresent lights but I just ordered a couple of VHO lamps, may get them next week. I want to shorthen the amount of time I run the MH to about 4 hrs, started at about 10-9, now is down to like 7hrs, my SPS seem to be coloring a little more.
I have been tempted to take the eggcrate out, I find that the stuff the rocks are sheeding is not getting blown away by the current, so if I dont have the eggcrate I can get to it easier. May do something like that when I get the lights.

Well, two other Chromiss died, I am thinking that the biggest one must have killed them because it always seem to be the smallest fish dieing, now only the big one is left along with the other mean purple pseoudo. What should I get next?
A fox face may be nice and it would be bigger than the two fish I have now so they should not mess with it.

Wow, I have not been around for a while, need to update.

The eggcrate in the tank had to go today, I just got tired of looking at it, it also blocked alot of flow to get to the bottom of the tank. Removed it today and rearanged the LR, of course this will be the first one of many more to come in the next week or two until I am satisfy with the way it looks. Pictures tomorrow.
I also added 2 tomato clownfish and a small foxface, I had such a hard time picking new fish at the store because I have to stay within the "no nipping fish" category, the last couple of fish who nipped ended up going back to the LFS. I am thinking about getting a bubble tip anemone but only if it wont bother my clams, I have some reading to do.
