This blog will be to follow the progress of my 55 gallon AGA tank.

History:
Bought this tank as a setup with HOB filter at a petco after christmas holiday.
Started to cycle the Tank JAN 2004.
I started my cycle with 3 newly purchased damsels. Little did I know that this was not the way to start a SW tank.

Considering I knew nothing about keeping fish, not even having a goldfish as a kid.
But I am a huge saltwater fishman...so I figured how hard could this be.

I think i stared at my tank for the 1st 2 weeks expecting to see something.
That's when i joined up here and my quest for aquarium knowlege began.

Considering I had heard the rumor that SW tanks were very hard to keep, I vowed to read and learn as much as possible.
And to this day, will never know it all.

so my tank started as a FO tank with plastic decorations and CC as my substrate.
man was it cheesey!
I'll post some pics later on.

After more reading...it was time to start adding some live rock.
I go to my LFS---first visit since I had set up the tank...
I freaked out when they wanted $5.99/lb for rock!
I mean, come on...it's just rock right.

Well in the tank it went...all 7 lbs of it.
I still only had the 40 watt NO bulb that came with the tank.
Well, i got my diatom boom and made it through the cycle.

Reading more, realizing no coralline algae was growing--time to upgrade the lights!
So I purchased the Current Satelite system of 2 x 65 watt PC 50/50 bulbs
I replaced the NO 40 bulb with an NO 40 Actinic.

That's when things really started to take off.
I think by this time I had added more live rock and most of the plastic decorations where gone.

I do remember getting a coral banded shrimp for Valentine's day---nothing says I love you--like Shrimp.

Skimmer back in production after letting it run in a vineger solution for 24 hours.
Fragged GSP on Sat. the 25th...they have yet to open back up.
Getting an algae bloom in the 20 gallon tank? I think due to overfeeding.
Will cut back and see what happens.
