For the first time in a long time, I have been looking at my tank again. I haven't much work on it over the last six months or so with the exception of cleaning the glass.

Everything is growing and my xenia is out of control.

My calcium reactor is acting up so I might have to play with that tonight for while and I plan on taking off the Euroreef skimmer sometime over the weekend and putting the PM Bullet back on the tank for a while. The ER just doesn't seem to be working like I feel it should be and the skimmate is too little and too thin compared to what the PM used to put out.

It seems that the calcium reactor will wait until the weekend. It seems to be working ok again. I know that I need to take the tubing apart and clean it. Crud builds up in the tubing and slows the water flow down which causes the CO2 to build up.

Reminder to self:

I also have to clean my ORP probes. My ozone unit says that my ORP is over 400 again but I am sure that it is only in the 320 range.

I finally got off my couch and worked on the tank last night. I replaced my Euroreef skimmer with my old Precision Marine bullet skimmer.

The Euroreef just didn't seem to be working that well. Even after a month, it only had a few ounces of skimmate in the cup. I am going to put on in my prop tank to see if it does any better but I am not expecting too much from it.

Today I spent three hours cleaning the glass. The coraline grows like crazy and the back, sides and front edges get covered really fast.

The tank looks pretty good overall and I hope to take some pictures tomorrow.

I adjusted the skimmer a little bit. The water level was a little low.

One of my zoo rocks got moved some how. I moved my clam yesterday and I have feeling that when it opened, it pushed the rock over.

I cleaned the glass with the magnetic scraper today but didn't have time for pictures before the lights went out.

I shortened the photo period to about 7.5 hours now. Since I did that, my toadstool is opening much better. I have a feeling that to soft corals were getting to much light overall.

It seems that my 6 year old flame hawkfish is MIA. I thought that something was wrong with the tank. I guess 6 years is pretty good.

I guess I will have to go to the LFS tomorrow and find a new one. I hope he has some.

I couldn't find any flame hawks that looked good enough to put in the tank.

On Monday, I picked up a powder blue tang. I missed the one that I lost when I moved the tank so hopefully this one will be as healthy as the one I had before. He is eating well and his new fish on the block issues with my purple tang seem to have settled down already.

On Tuesday, I went to my friends shop and picked up the following:

1 - Fairy wrasse - Cirrhilabrus cyanopleura
1 - Sunburst Anthias - Serranocirrhitus latus
2 - Purple firefish - Nemateleotris decora
1 - Hi-fin red banded goby - Stonogobiops nematodes
1 - Horned Blenny - Parablennius sp.
1 - Yellow clown goby - Gobiodon okinawae
1 - Green clown goby - Gobiodon atrangulatus

With the exception of the Sunburst Anthias, all the other fish are so small. With all the rock and corals in the tank, I am not sure if I will ever see some of them again.

I turned off the ozone for now. Since I changed skimmers, I noticed an ozone smell in the house. The output from the collection cup is letting the ozone escape so I have to order the PM waste collection unit to seal the system.

I forgot, on Friday, I added a small tubastrea coral.

I also started feeding the tank two to three times per day in hopes to keep the fish happy and to add a few more nutrients to the tank.

I added my new Precision Marine 6" waste collector today. I can't smell the ozone any more, which is nice.

I also ordered a retrofit Becket upgrade for the PM skimmer. The current part is a pain in the neck to clean since it gets plugged with tiny snails. With my current plumbing, I have to really work to get it out to clean it but the new part looks like it just unscrews. I hope to have that part in a few days.

I am not sure if the extra feedings or not running the ozone has caused it but my Orp is down almost 30 since I turned off the ozone. I will see if it goes back up now that I turned it back on.

I finally hooked up my retrofit Becket upgrade to my skimmer tonight. The built in ozone port is nice and the air filter really reduced the hissing sound.
