My story.
I got my first reef tank, actually it was the first fish tank of any kind that i have ever had, about a year and a half ago. I bought a 46 gallon bow and filled it with rocks corals and fish from a friend who was getting out of the hobby. For the first year i didnt pay much attention to it except for i did do water changes religiously every week and WAY overloaded it with fish. At the most ridiculous point(of course i didnt know it at the time) i had a purple tang, a small trigger, a dwarf fuzzy lion, a volitan lion and a snowflake eel in it all at the same time.

Yes that is funny and sad all at the same time.

I now would advise anyone without hesitation that any two of those is NOT ok in a tank that size and at least two of them arent ok in a tank that size period.
SO.....in the last 6 months i have been eating this stuff up as fast as i can go, reading and listening and trying to make my displays impressive as well as a healthy happy place for my pets to live. The 3 tanks i currently have running i now UNDERSTOCK(if there is such a thing) as far as fish goes. The corals are my priority and in all 3 tanks (2 80's and a 46)i have roughly 15 gallons per inch of fish.
I am in the process of building a 90 gallon sps tank and a 240 gallon predatorial fish and LPS tank.
I take great pride in my plumbing displays as i have done work in the past that requires high profile plumbing pieces and although most of this stuff is pretty simplistic in comparison, it is still important to me that the plumbing appears perfect and organized, besides of course performing well.

Thats all for now. If you want to see any of my pics there is a link in my signature. I constantly add and subtract to it.

I am happy to be a part of this community and grateful to have stumbled upon it. Everybody here is super friendly and it is an enjoyable place to learn and joke around a bit, and now i can even help others out here and there myself. You will see my name more often than not as being online browsing as my computer never gets turned off, but there is usually a TRT window open even if I havent been home for days.

My name is Bill, and yes I have an addiction. Its not the first i have had in my life but it is by FAR the healthiest!!!

Ok, its been 6 months since ive updated. 225 is now 10 months old, 90 is 6 months old.

Super happy with both tanks. A couple of changes. I am now running a hammerhead pump for the CLS on both the 90 and the 225.

I also switched bulbs from the 15k XM with crappy par to 10k xm's. Realized ive been cutting myself short all along.

Here is a vid of the flow in my 90, i simply drop the water level a couple of inches so that 2 of the 8 ports are catching air, and 2 others are slightly catching air. There are 2 spraybars and 2 other ports that arent catching air running at the same time in this video, but if you watch closely you can see their effect on the bubbbles from the top ports

At any given time there are 3 of 8 ports fully open, to 6 ports halfway open, and every possible degree of flow in between variably every 15 seconds. This is a BB tank that the floor NEVER has to be siphoned clean. It all gets suspended and to the skimmer.

And some shots of the 225

And the 90
