I installed the new XM's today. (2 - HQI 150W 10K DE)

All pics were taken with the actinics on.

The bulbs have been burning for a 1/2 hour or so. Here is a pic...
(I'll take another pic in a couple days to see if there is any difference)



Here is a pic I took yesterday...with the original bulbs that were included with the Outer Orbit Current USA fixture...(The bulbs are stamped "made in China")

On 01/31/08 - I replaced my XM MH's with Ushio

On 01/31/08 - I added a quad doser and started dosing 2 part, and top off water

On 02/08/08 - I upgraded to 2 Tunze 6055's and a multicontroller

A brief description I submitted for the TCMAS meeting I'm hosting on 02/16/08....


Dobbs' 75 Gallon Reef...

After many years without a tank of any sort. I decided to get back into the hobby. I decided that I wanted to do a reef tank this time. A reef tank would be something new and challenging for me - as the SW tank I had in the past was fish only. So, in May of 2006, I purchased an established 75 gallon reef tank that came with an oak stand, and an oak canopy. It also came with a CPR complete filtration system (Model CY194). Since then - I've added to, replaced, and upgraded the system, added livestock, and added various corals.

My goal has been to keep the system as simple as possible.

Below is a list of the items that currently run the system, along with the other products I currently use, feed, etc...

System equipment -
48" Outer Orbit fixture with 2 - 150W/10K Ushio HQI MH's, and 2 - 130W dual actinics.
Mag-Drive 7 sump pump
Tunze 6055 Nanostream Powerhead (x2)
Tunze 7095 Multicontroller
Rio 2100 protien skimmer pump
Visa-Therm Stealth 200W submersible heater
Misc Equipment -
Abundant Flow Water Systems 75GPD RO/DI
Aquatec 8800 Booster Pump
RO/DI storage and mixing station
Dosing & Maint -
Aqua Medic Quad Doser
"Two-part" Calcium - Dosing 1/2 ounce every 4 hours
"Two-part" Alkalinity - Dosing 1/2 ounce every 4 hours
3/4 of a gallon of RO/DI top-off water - Dosing 5 ounces every hour
7 Gallon water change - 2 to 3 times a month
Skimmer & filter cleaning - once a week

Below is a list of corals that I've purchased in the past year-and-a-half. Unfortunately, I lost a few due to a Hydor K3 failure that malfunctioned and contaminated my tank. A couple/few of the larger colonies still, and probably always will, show the damages of that failure....fortunately, most no longer show any signs. All of the remaining corals seem to be doing great now. I'm still trying to figure out what I've lost, and what remains. Anyone wanna help me ID some of these :-)?
