Condiman/BBsAquaticService 440 gallon reef blog

As some of you may know that I have started my own aquarium maintenance business two years ago. The first year was kinda slow going but this year is just wow. I got a client who had two 220 gallon reef aquariums that I had taken over and now they want me to setup two more for there facility in colby. But my biggest one was the 440 gallon reef that was setup 9 years ago and was poorly taken care of for the past few years and I know that some of you may know the tank and who was caring for it but I have known that person for a few years and he is a good friend but just had to much on his plate. Anyways, the tank was in severe need of an over haul and well this is my blog to show its progress.

My plans are for next saturday is to hook up the refugium the second to last photo it is the blue tank on the left hand side. I am going to t off the return pump and put a valve on there to control the flow and then gravity feed the refugium back to the sump. I have realized that I am going to have to raise the refugium another foot or so. You know the funny thing is in the first year I had 75 gallons of fresh water that I took care of. At the start of my second year I picked up 5 clients and now I have over 1100 gallons of saltwater that I take care of and 120 gallons of fresh water. Its amazing how things change with time.

After doing a conciderable water change the SG went to 1.030 I am hoping over time I will be able to lower it to the magic number of around 1.026 or so
