Chili Coral Blog....

I want to document how the chili coral does in my tank and figured this would be a good way to document this. I will also try and post updates in the normal threads but here I will have a running record of what goes on...

10/4/2007 - Added Chili coral to tank, placed in shaded area that doesn't get a lot of light or a ton of flow. Position on rock, isn't bad but doesn't always seem like it stays upright. Trying to find perfect fit into the crevice so it has the best chance of standing upright.

I will keep trying to post updates.

Here is an update:

11/12/2007 - Had to move the Chilli because I purchased Bubble Tip Anenome and it took over the the cave that I had the Chilli in. I was finally able to get it out and moved into a new spot, hoping that it like the new spot, it still really hasn't extended polyps at least that I have seen. The new spot I should be able to get some better flow as well. Right now it isn't turned the right way but here is a pic anyway.

Well haven't updated lately here because thing weren't going the greatest but here is an update worth while, I also posted in the Chili thread under soft corals.

Ok, breaking news.... well maybe not headline news but here is an update. I have tried moving it at least 5 different spots within the display tank and nothing, hasn't opened at all. Well today I decided to move it up into the Refugium which is lit the opposite of the main tank. It has really good pods, rock rubble, DSB and macro algae growing. Well I placed it in the tank about 3 hours ago, and I just checked on it and it is opening up, good polyp ext..

Will check it in the morning since the lights just came on and again tomorrow night and let you know how it goes, but I might have found a new place for my chili....

Want to see how this goes before fragging anymore...I might actually have this one a little to much in the light and I don't think they light the MH's. But we will see how it goes, wanted to make sure it was far enough away from the Anenomes...

I will post an updated pic of it open more as soon as it does... (crossing fingers....)...
