I found this in my tank a little while ago. Anyone know what it is and if it beneficial or not?

no it looks like a caterpiller actually and it feels hard to the touch. I haven't seen it move, it just kinda appeared. I was working in the tank left for a while and came back and there is was. The hair like stuff is attached to a small piece of rock though.

No idea, but this reminds me of the time when somebody needed an id, and the item turned out to be a fruit loop.

Save it it looks cool ! take it to a LFS and ask them (all you need is a wwaterbottle with sw in it lol) if it moves its a slug ! (could be good Could be bad )

I'll have to try and find an old pic. I had something almost just like that appear in my tank a number of years ago. I think it was ID'd too. Will let you know.
