Weird sps growth

Anyone ever seen one grow like this? My wife calls it the palm tree. I took a bunch of pics today so I hope nobody minds the multiple threads. If you've got an sps or other coral with a strange growth pattern please feel free to post a pic.

That's pretty cool, I don't think I've ever seen growth pattern like that before. Reminds me of a bonsai tree.

It looks very much like a little tree. I'm a little worried that the base is being shaded too much by the top. It is starting to lose a little color on that branch growing out on the bottom left.

So did that start of as a frag that was cut both top and bottom? Or, did you chop the top off? The growth is funky, but cool.

I have had one grow similar to that, but I liked to keep thing fragged in my old tank. Unfortunately it is now gone My frag started out as a bottom section of a branch that was fragged. The top was cut off, leaving it with a smooth top and bottom. Eventually, the bottom encrusted and the top grew like yours.

Did you move it higher up? Change bulbs? Lighting schedule? If so, then they're branching outwards instead of branching upwards in order to reach for light.

I don't recall fragging it but that would explain the branching at the top. I move my frags around constantly so it's hard to say if it's due to lighting. I did recently change bulbs and lighting schedule but this growth pattern started before that. I have 3 or 4 other frags of this that have the same trunk like center growth but they haven't developed the branching top yet. I will have to see how they turn out.
