Lightbulb

Time for new bulbs

We are looking at new bulbs for our aquarium. We have 4-36 watt compact flourescent (2 actinic, 2 daylight, all came with the fixture) and 2-48" VHO actinics in a 72 gallon bowfront tank. The VHOs are only 3 months old so shouldn't need replacement yet, but the others are hitting a bit over 8 months or so. Where are some places to purchase bulbs with reliable results? We have mostly softies, some zoas, 2 LPS, and shrooms. I've read several posts about wavelengths for daylight bulbs, but I am looking for suggestions on what I should purchase with our current setup. Are the 2 VHO actinics plenty in that range? Should I just buy 4 daylight bulbs, 50/50s, or some mix other than these? I've also seen some compact flourescents that are very short wavelengths, almost like black lights. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks!

My preference would be to get 4 of the 10k power compacts. With the two actinic vho's, you should have plenty of light in the blue spectrum.

Thanks, I was leaning that way, but I wasn't sure with the different types of bulbs that I have. One day I'll upgrade to halides, but that's a bit more than I have funds for

I'm a big fan of the Current USA bulbs over the Coralife ones. I have seen them side by side in the same fixture and there is just no comparison. The Current ones are much brighter. I also prefer the dual actinic pc's over the regular actinic bulbs. One half of the bulb does look almost like a black light. There is a note that comes attached to the bulb telling you not to return it because it only looks like one side of the bulb is lit.
