Seahorses
My girlfriend has a 10 gallon tank that had a stupid freshwater fish in it. Well she has abandoned that idea and gave the fish to a friend. However, all I ever hear about is getting a seahorse. I really don't like them, but she is in love with them. Could I use her 10 gallon, get some live sand and rock and a few crabs and snails and be set? She has one of those hang on the back freshwater filter. Can I still use that? Also, are there any lighting requirments? If I wanted to make it like a little nano, what kind of light would I use?
Any thoughts or experiences you want to share would be great. Shoudl I do this or not??
Thanks guys, Chris

In my experience seahorses are easy to care for. Low flow, Low lighting and keep anything out that would compete for food. You will want to buy CB seahorses because they will eat mysis. Alantis, Bioreef, and FishManiac, Dancos have them in stock. Carrie (ssweet1) knows alot about their care. You will want to buy females too. Your tank sounds great for them

I don't have a skimmer on the seahorse tank. I use bioballs and alot of water changes. Also you need some sort of structure that they can hang on to like a piece of fake coral or tonga branch

A sea fan would work better for them to attach to. Carrie or Jan are Seahorse experts.

IMO a 10 gallon tank is way to small for a seahorse long term. It would work for a grow out tank but would need to be upsized fairly soon.

I have a quick question.
I am reading alot on puting horses with sea fans and gorgonians. These require high water flow. Horses require low water flow. How do you put these two together?
Is macroalgae better?
