RO/DI troubles
OK I need help! I have this RO/Di unit and I bought ALL new filters, and membrane and my TDS was reading about 21. SO I added an additional DI unit with a new cartridge. now my reading is 51 and I"m still getting diatome in my tank .
Take a look at this pic please and see if you see anything wrong with the way I have the water flowing thru it all. I"m taking a sample to bioreef today to eliminate the possibility of my TDS reading off.
P.S. the yellow is initial water coming in the blue is the good water output and the clear one coming out the front is waste

I would have the DI last inline after the R/O.

Hope this visual helps.
Ocean Reef + 1 by THEFILTERGUYS
stage 1: sediment
stage 2: chlorine guzzler carbon block
stage 3: 2nd chlorine guzzler carbon block
stage 4: RO membrane
stage 5: DI Resin
My tds out of the membrane is usually eratic for less than 10 minutes after turning it on. Once it gets going well its usually 3-5 tds out of the membrane, then 0 out of the DI.

good point raycity make sure you installed the carbon filter 1 and 2 in the correct order
some R/o units work from left to right some frome right to left
what type of R/o unit is that?
But either way you look at it your first step needs to be change the DI unit last.

Di is the final polishing of the water.

but if 3 & 5 are both DI filters wouldn't it go 1-2-4-3-5?
It's an aquamaxx unit

it doesnt look like number 3 is a DI unit most RO units have 1 pre filter usually 1-5 micron and 2 carbon filters. then the water goes to the membrane and finally you have it going to the DI unit.
however some aquamax units have just 1 carbon filter i guess thats what u have
they will not be as effective as a 4stage ro/ unit
looking at your picture again I have a question
what filters did you install into the unit?
so with that unit the order of operation needs to be 1then 2 then 5 then 3 then 4

If #3 is a Di unit then the order should be 1, 2, 5, 3, 4. If I'm not mistaken the water should come in the micron filter, then the carbon filter, then the membrane, then the DI or DI's since you have two.

Is there a reason to have two di chambers? Is this what most of you do?

I just have one di. IMO two chambers is redundant. If your di can't give you zero TDS, then it's probably time for new resin.

I think the main reason for having two is so that you can fully exhaust the resin in the first chamber.
For example, I'm getting a reading of 1 from my TDS meter coming out of my first chamber which then feeds into my second.
So the resin in the first is approaching the end of it's useful life, but it is still doing some work so I haven't replaced it yet.
