So, last night we had a 15-minute power outage, due to a transformer catching on fire. (Yay! Fire!) We weren't too worried about our tanks because we've had power outages before and everything turned out fine...
When the power came back on, the tanks, of course, came back on. We immediately went and checked on our big tank, where most of the fish are and started counting... there's the Puffers, the
Canary Blenny, the Pygmy Angelfish, Norbie (Male Clownfish) and.... Betty? Where's Betty?!
Betty, our female Clownfish, was no where to be found, which was very abnormal. We started checking the floor around the tank, looked inside the overflow and the sump... We checked the floors around the house to see if maybe the cats had took off with her and left her somewhere... Then we took the canopy off to see if she may have somehow jumped up high enough to land on something, unseen.
No sign of Betty.
Then, a horrible thought: "What if she was somehow in one of the powerheads and when it came on, she was... pulverized?"
However, I'm thinking that if she was, the tank would have been more of a mess than just the usual particles in the water from the pumps turning off and on again... Am I right in thinking this?
Anyway, this morning, with a heavy heart, I went to the tank to feed the fish, and still no Betty. I am almost positive that she is dead somewhere, but we just can't find her.
I feel so bad because Norbie, her "sweetheart," is swimming all over the tank as if he's looking for her
I don't know what happened, but just thought I'd share... makes me feel a little better, y'know?
Thanks for listening...
