Psammocora - Who will WIN ???
We have a few varieties of psammocora and although I could conduct endless searches, etc., I thought it might be fun to pick the brains of those that may have experience (or do like to - haha) with the coral.
Even if you don't have psammocora, please feel free to chime in on other species that you may have knowledge...
For instance, I always read that hydnophora was the KING until our pocillopora made it cry, or that the hammer almost wiped out our torch with it's 3" sweepers...
This should be fun, so everybody jump in!!!

Yep, I was stoked that the cute, little P. would "tank" the big, bad H... haha
We had an incident happen a while back where 1/2 a colony of monti cap "whitened" only to find out there were pretty, blue shrooms lurking behind it...
Let's keep the replies coming!!!

I can't give any examples of SPS warfare but I know my blastos and my 1 hammer got fried by the Scoylmia brain.

I'm starting to have that sentiment. Looking toward the future, I'll be nuking my 'shrooms.
On the happy side, my torch fried my orange 'shrooms!

Psammacora socialis will win. I have seen it grow up the stalks of Palythoa, and completely grow over the tops of the polyps. It now looks like Psammacora with green columns growing out of it.

we have a montipora cap fighting with some zoas right now. The zoas are taking a beating and these are the zoas that dominate all other zoas in our tank.

I have an awnry Pink Chubby Plate that makes my brains look like crap if it moves within 3-4 inches of them. It hasn't done any real damage yet (but I have read they can) It just really makes my brains POed until it or I move it away. The reaction has to be chemically b/c the plate won't ever have the ability of touching the brains when they recede and stay closed up all day.
I am thinking about boxing in the plate before it causes any real trouble. I have seen the plate move 1-2 inches in a single night. For the first several nights that it moved, I thought I was going crazy, saying I know that plate was not in that spot yesterday. Now I am aware of their nomadic behavior.
