OT: Thought they only grew things BIG in TX!
OK, so I guess I'm a naive Northerner and I'm not afraid of many creatures but when I saw this gal this morning I said to myself .... WOW!
 Ewwwwwwww!
It had to have been about 4 to 5 inches from tip of back legs to tip of front legs.
Keri was so kind to inform me that it is a Banana Spider.

I have seen a FL Wolf Spider ... it was a big one but not as big as this thing! Maybe it wasn't a full grown one.

Definitley looks like a banana spider, which I have seen in Orlando and here in Jacksonville. With a leg span of about 5", they are a lot bigger than the wolf spiders I have seen.

Those things scare the begeez out of me. I will let them live if they are not in my way when I walk around my yard. It is fun to see them catch a moth or cricket though.

Whenever I'm mowing the back 40 I have to keep an eye out for them. They love to spin a web between two trees, talk about a surprise when you run into one.

Well I noticed this one this morning while out walking the dog. Thank goodness its on the neighbor's storage shed and not right near our house, otherwise it would find itself being relocated.

I had one that would spin a web from my garage to the fence above the gate for my pen where I kept my Rotties. It was fun to watch it shake it's web trying to entice a victim, heck I'd even catch something, throw it in the web just to watch. I've seen them 5"+ in my back yard

Well the shrimp got put in Keri's tank with his 2 watchmans and immediately disappeared into their hiding spot and kicked about some sand, but haven't seen him since. I'm sure he's there though as every morning there is more sand outside the burrow opening.
The watchman got put in my 75g right next to a pistol shrimp I had in there. He sat there for about 5 minutes before the nosey CB Angel scared him. He shot to the other end of the tank and into some crevices in the rock. Haven't seen him since. I'm sure he'll be back out once he gets use to his new home and tank mates though.

Imagine having something like that jumping out of the truck on to you . (yes i admit it , i cursed like you wouldn't believe and beat the crap out of myself even after it was gone ). I HATE SPIDERS !!!!!!
