Nano Trend...

How does everyone feel about more and more reefers going "nano"? Do you think it is a good thing and why or why not...

I think it s a good trend. I like a whole variety though. I absolutly love seeing the large tank, just dont want to pay for maintenance or the upkeep. For some its no real issue. It really has to do with what you want to house. I am not a big fan of fish in a nano. The coolest fish need a large environment. I digress. I like them, but for specific reasons, and for those reasons, the large tank will probably never downtrend that much.

I love my nanos they were the first tanks we started with, since than we have upgraded to a 120 and a 210. We still have the nanos up & do not think we will be taking them down. I can not imagine the hard core reefers downgrading to a nano for an extended period of time. I have seen many reefers try to give up the hobby or down grade only to come back with in a year. This is a very addicting hobby & very hard to give up or down size.

I can truly say that I love big tanks... I just think that sometimes you can lose sight of interesting things in them... like in a 30g nano you could put a RBTA and a couple clowns and observe their sybiosis from a much smaller perspective than I think in a 200g or even a 100g... not to say that I don't love big tanks, because they are gorgeous to look at and its awesome to pick people's brains about their filtration and equipment etc... I dunno, I am currently setting up a 50g tank and I never thought I would even go that big... so we will see... maybe its just a fascination of mine with these tiny little boxes full of water :-)
