I have one coming this week. I ordered the 250 so I will let you know how it works out, and if I can make it better LOL.

I have the MSX 160 (first wave of the MSX). Had some issues with the mesh mod, but I'm waiting on my flatback from premiumaquatics.com at the moment to redo it. The ones that have some out recently appear to be much better.

Main things are 1) Replace the flimsy tube with a 3/8" OD (1/2" ID) tubing for the venturi 2) Make sure the restrictor to the inlet of the pump is flush 3) Make sure the "flat part of the venturi tubing is towards the inlet of the pump and that it is flush

I think that is it....

Here is a thread on RC. LOTS of reading!

Why is the skimmer pump so small in the pics? Or is the skimmer so big it makes the pump look small? Also in the second pic what are the clear tubes for next to the silencer?

The pump looks fine but the body is wide. The clear tube is the silencer for the air intake. After reading the thread provided by d16drag (thank you) I ordered the 200 series. I can't let Marineduud claim all the credit for any mods.

I've got an msx160 also and in the same boat as b16. I never sent my pump back to be machined as it worked great after break in.

This is the MSX 300. The skimmers are big making the pumps "small" (borrowed the pic from hammerhead on RC)

Obviously the MSX 160, 200, and 250 are all smaller Same pump though!
