Mike, is the skimmer rated for a particular depth or do you keep it at 9-10 inches cause of past experience with skimmers?

According to the manufacture and the different threads, the recommended depth is 8-10". I have it in 9" of water like I have with other skimmers.

When I set the skimmer up I was pulling air at a rate of 33 CFPH. Now I am in the mid to high 40s.

Robert I will try to take some pictures but you know my photo skills.

I am very close to 50SFPH now and the airmeter ball is not bouncing at all. Right now I am playing with the drain pipe. It was in 3 inches of water and I think that created too much back pressure. So I have angled the pipe to be at one inch and have gotten a little more air.

I am waiting for some flat back mesh to come in and I will go four layers with fishing line.

I would just like to break the 50CFPH barrier.

I forgot but just google dwyer instruments.
I got the RMA-23 but I would recommend a one that does not exceed 30 l/min. You will get more detail.

http://www.dwyer-inst.com/htdocs/flow/SeriesRMPrice.cfm Is the listing on the RMA series. I want one but not sure which one would be the best for what I want to use it for.

The RMA-8 would be the one I would pick if I could do it over again.

I have the RMA-8 and haven't had a chance to use it much. I'm having a problem finding the "connector" to attach the hose to the meter. The RMA takes a 1/8 NPT thread. So far I've checked Lowes and they didn't have it.

I can fit the hose into the threaded opening, but I doubt I get a good reading off of that. The RMA series is the smallest of the group, which makes it a little harder to read (or maybe my eyes are getting old!). I'm thinking the RMB-53, which also does 10-100 SCFH might be easier to read.

On the skimmer, I just got my Octo Xtreme 300 (same as the MSX) and that thing is a beast! Here's a pic of it next to a 12 oz can, without the pumps attached

Looks huge. You can get the fitting at a welding supply store.
Surely you photo shopped that V8 can into the picture because I know it had to be a beer can like this:

Shhhh...you aren't supposed to tell anyone! On RC I first posted the picture next to an 8oz can of coke acting like it was a regular 12oz can

I found the 1/8" fitting at Ace. Lowes and HD didn't have anything that small.
