What's the rating on these pumps (tank size)? Is the number (160, 200, 300, etc) the maximum tank size? I'm not sure if my ASM G4X is big enough for my tank, so I was looking at these. But, I haven't found a tank size rating yet.

Out of the RC thread I found this on page 31 of the last split.
You only have to go back a few pages and your see some of the stuff that were done like the bushing mod and there's pics of it, Make sure you replace the extremely crappy hose to a better one. As far as bio-load this is what Luke33 came up with.
Well, i would rate them like this. Low-medium-high bioload.
MSX-160= 250-160-125
MSX-200= 350-230-175
MSX-250= 640-425-315
MSX-300= 690-475-365

My MSX 200 Skimmer should be here by Friday. I hope my wife does not have a lot of plans for me this weekend.

Hi Mike - I haven't been in the forums for a while. I have the MSX-300. It's been running in an isolated rubbermaid container for about 4 weeks now. I posted pics of the skimmer in my tank thread. I think I need to order some of the flatback mesh from PA as it ran quiet at first, but lately one of the pumps has gotten a bit louder.
It's not running on the tank yet because I still need to get a larger sump built.. if Marineduude was around it would probably already be done. LOL

ScubaTC, I would definitely recommend getting some flatback and redoing the mesh... Its definitely one of the things they need to fix on the MSX... I know the first few waves had some crappy mesh--like mine. Nevertheless its till cheaper than the big boys and still does a great job. If I were you, I'd open it up and see why one of them is humming louder than the other...
I got my flatback from Premium Aquatics if you were wondering...

b16drag - I ordered the flatback mesh today. Wow, I looked back to the date I got my skimmer and it was on April 19th. I've been running it in a rubbermaid tub all this time and not on the tank! Really need to get the new sump going and get this thing installed!
When the skimmer was new I opened up the pumps to have a look and everything seemed ok. I did trim a few strays on the mesh. I am sure the noise I am hearing now is from the worn mesh... in need of replacement with the better flatback.
