Moving a Tank ** Need Ideas for Transporting **

Hello all,

I am moving to Austin, Texas and want to keep everything. (I just can't see myself parting with something that has become part of the family). I would like ideas on how to move my 30gal tank. I have about 40 to 50 lbs of liverock and 4 fish in the tank right now. A Perc, Gramma, Yellow Tail, and Engineer Goby. I have 30 different kinds of corals and will be driving to Texas myself. It should take roughly a day and a half. From what I am hearing, everything should be fine.

What I am looking for is ideas on transporting everything and how I should do it. Rubbermaid containers? Buckets? Should I put Cheato in with everything? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Rubermaids with TIGHT fitting lids should work I'm not sure about a day a a half but you may want to keep them submerged. The heat might be a prob. A foam cooler might work better. The fish and corals you should keep in the car with you The heat will kill them.

Containers/Garbage Cans/Buckets with lids.....any will work....Need Battery powered aerators, or an inverter to plug power heads into in order to keep the water circulating.....

you can make texas in a day straight drive... I've done it numerous times... where at in texas? 5 gallon buckets with aerators, tight fitting lids, and make sure you keep them in the car with you with the a/c on... expect some things to perish though as this is a long drive... here is a suggestion, my friend did this when he moved here from california... have a friend next day air them all to you once your all settled in... just a thought

sell it and start over.

You are making a long drive and are moving. You will have less stress if you part with it and start over once you are settled.
