mated clowns???

How do yo tell if you have a mated pair of Perculas clown fish? One is a medium size and the other is a small size. They both live in a bubble tip enemine and seem to get along fine.

Percs are sexually dimorphic. The female is typically larger that the male (or males). If the female leaves or dies, the next male in line becomes the female.

I have 3 false percs, 1 female and 2 males. The 2 males are smaller than the female.

chiapet how long have you had the percs together? I have always read that it was not wise to put more than 2 clowns together. I know people have done it with success I was just curious as to your experience.

I would guesstimate that I have had the 3 percs together for about 2-3 years. They host in a blue carpet.

We have had 3 pairs in a 125 reef for over two years. 2 false percs, 2 true percs and two black percs.

my 2 false percs have been together for about 6 months now. They host in an Anemone. I had them in a 75G and now they are in a 150G and I am looking for a pair of another clowns along with another big anemone.

How do you get false percs to mate? Can you just stick 2 juveniles into a tank?

i m still trying to figure that out. however i have been told that the bigger of the clowns will turn into the female and the smaller one will turn into the female. there is another part of this sight that is called breeding and in it there are different posts about breeding clowns.

If you are really interested in breeding clownfish or just want info, the book Clownfish by Joyce D. Wilkerson is very informative.

I turn the lights down low & play some Barry White. It drives the percs wild every time.

I could not resist!
