macro shots...

Hey everyone, I've been experimenting with different techniques to take good macro shots with a simple point-n-shoot camera. I have tried a little telescopic lense for looking at the tips of tattoo needles but it only works if the coral to be photographed is right up against the glass.

Anyone ever tried using a magnifying glass?

Any other techniques?

I'm being cheap and trying everything I can to avoid buying a Nikon D40X haha

Use a clear plastic bowl for top down shots. It kills the reflectiveness of the light. Other than that, I don't have any other tricks

I have used a magnifying glass. It helps some but stuff still needed to be pretty close to the glass to get a fairly good shot. Of course I take horrible pictures :-)

Agreed...I used a plastic box..same basic tehniche...I also find if I turn off actinics and only use 10K's the colors are more natural...otherwise there is too much blue in pics.
