Identify a Fish Tank/Drill-able?

Okay, I know this is a shot in the dark but oh well... I bought a 55 gallon fish tank a while back (4 or 5 years ago) from PetSmart. It came with a matching black oak stand with 2 covers that had florescent bulbs on top. Here is a pic doubt it will help.

The reason for me wanting to know is can it be drilled? I've heard most 55gal's can't be, but figured I might as well ask.

If it is tempered then no. Try searching the model number.

John look at the bottom of the tank it should have a small sticker saying tempered glass.I read somewhere that using a pair of sunglasses with polarized lenses you can see if the glass is tempered ,tempered glass will show a rainbow of colors just like a car windshield would with polarized lenses.

Most 55's are tempered but there is a slight chance it's not. You can try the polarized glasses trick but that requires sunlight. It won't work inside unless you can get sunlight to reflect off the tank. Does the glass seem thin? One benefit of tempering is that you can use thinner glass and build a less expensive tank. This is why many econo 55's (walmart, petsmart and other chains) are always fully tempered sides and bottom.

I think Petsmart has sold only perfecto brand tanks for several years. But I agree, if you got it @petsmart and paid a reasonable price, its ALL tempered.
