Jan,

I lost one about a year ago when it popped off and fell behind my refug. I could not find it so I made a new one. When I do my wc friday I will see if I can find it. Can not get to it until I move some water around.

Thanks for the offer Mike but Robert was able to explain to me exactly how to fix it. I explained to my husband and with in a few minutes he had a 1/2 inch male adapter modified for the pump return. works fantastic.
Thanks Robert for all your help also.
Next time I will listen.

You guys rock!!!

I'm having problems with my Sedra 5000 again.
I took it apart, cleaned it thoroughly but it still wouldn't start.
After playing with it for a while I found that if I manually rotated the wheel by using a stick through the output port after several attempts the pump would start.
Boy, let me tell you how much fun this was trying to do it in my sump with the input connected to the skimmer.
After the pump starts up the flow seems pretty low, but it is running none the less.
Once I hooked the output back up to the skimmer I blew on the airline a few times and Viola!
As much fun as that sounds, I need a permanent solution.
Do you think the impeller assembly is bad or the pump, or both?
Just wondering what I should replace.

That's how mine was before it finally just wouldn't start back up. I am glad I don't have to keep taking it out to get it working. It was not easy, its a tight fit in the sump and I kept bumping my head.

Well Its been about 4 months since I bought the new Sedra 3500 pump for my skimmer. It has decided to quite on me too. I have taken it apart and cleaned it 5 or 6 times and I cant get it to fire back up. I take it apart and clean it, plug it in and it will just hum a little. I tried to jump start the needle wheel by sticking a little rod thing and tring to get it to turn but it didn't work. So I take it all apart again and put it back together and now I get nothing! Any Ideas other than buying another new pump. I have been messing with it since Sunday night and I am getting no where..

Does it make any noise when you plug it in?

Good News is I got it running by taking a hammer to it. Bad news is everytime its turned off it won't start back up unless I take a hammer and give it a couple good wacks!!! I am sure that will fail to start it soon. Guess I have to buy another new one.

It sounds like something is rubbing on the inside stopping it from starting on its own. That suck that it is so new and already causing you problems.

Have you soaked the pump to make sure it is clean?
