Help with Lighting (Stock 20 in strip light) FreshWater

I have a 55 gallon tank with two 20 inch strip lights that rest on the black plastic hoods with the glass parts for the light to go through (i think its the stock pet smart 55 gallon set up) I was to beef up the lighting and keep the same look of the hoods. I'm wondering if there are kits to add t5 bulbs to my existing set up. OR do they set complete set ups that will fit in where my old lights went. Any help or suggestion would be great please post links to item that will help too

I think Robs Reef has some 18" T-5s that will fit right over the section you are trying to fit. The fixtures are only about 3in wide

The 55 gallon tank that I have has the lights you are talking about. The bulb is an 18" T8 bulb. I found a retrokit for PC lights in an 18" fixture but didn't find a T5 retro kit that size.

You may be able to find an 18" T5 fixture and then DIY to make it fit into your current setup. Even then, I don't think the light is going to be enough for keeping a reef tank. I think you would be better off, in the end, to just find a 48" T5 fixture and either build a canopy for it or find one for it.
