OK so last night a hose came lose and emptied my return section onto my floor. This left my 300 wt heater exposed and it broke along with melting part of power head. So I need to get a new one. Not sure what route to take or if there is better option.
1. 300wt heater with temp control
2. Dual 150wt heaters
3. Dual 150Wt heaters with temp control

I have two 300watt heaters and they've been fine no complaints.

All I can say is the 200 watt visitherm stealth I bought for my 90 is doing pretty darn good. Even though its only rated for a 55 it can pull the water temp up to 86-88 in the tank without any problems according to my coralife digi temp gauge. Its also accurate to the temp gauge wich is a plus. Cant beat the doctors right now for there heater prices. Hope the damage was minimal with the flood.

recommend using a Titanium heater. Cheap ones seem to get stuck in the on position, if you don't have a chiller, it will cause the tank to overheat.

I've been having heater problems too. My old would get stuck on and heat the tank up. So I bought another...Hydor and that one also gets stuck on, new right out of the box. Haven't had time to return it. I've been playing with fans turning them on / off between the daytime and night to keep the temp stable.

I also need to find a decent heater that will turn off when it is suppose too! SeaDevil offered me one, but I've been too busy to follow-up with him.

I did the exact same thing in my tank the other night. Except I wasn't watching how low I was pumping the water out for a water change. Anyway I just bought a 150w hydor heater, so far it's working fine.

I have a Jager but do not actually use it. My tank temp runs to 79 at night to 82 in the day with the lights on. I run all 4 bulbs during the day also. 4x55watt

We use the Visitherm Stealth here in the store, they turn off by themselves if taken out of water. Also the rating's are based on being able to raise the temp 18 degrees, you can also safely put them in a sump.
