Harvesting coral...


Anyone know what corals you can harvest from the wild??and if so the guidlines,or a web-site that has them

Corals are almost completely off limits in Fl.

Well I know all hard corals are off limits,but I was talking to the game warden and he said he goes to the keys all the time and gets zoas and other soft corals I was
just curious to what is out there

Read the rules that I posted, they pretty much cover everything that is out in our local waters. You can go to many different areas to harvest but the collection limits have dropped significantly. It's harder to justify the expense of driving down there.

Ricordia for example is down to 5 per day. If you stay somewhere for more than a few days it may be worth the trip. Keep in mind that if your are stopped leaving the Keys (or anywhere else) with more than one days worth of livestock, you need to be able to prove that you stayed for multiple days.

Well iv got a week vacation in the keys planned in July didn't really plan on harvesting anything while I was there, was just more curious than anything,but if I do take anything it'll be white zoas since iv seen them on the ok to harvest list but haven't found any for sale locally
