Group Buy!!!

Alright, I know a guy on the west coast that can get the Koralia Nano's at wholesale and ship several of them here for a flat rate. I'm trying to get 5 people that want one, then I'll make the order for 6 (I need one for my lil Nano tank) He's asking $24.45 for each pump, then we'll split the frieght cost between the buyers ($12.00 total) If 5 people each want one, then we'd each pay a total $26.45! I'd have them shipped to me, then I could meet folk at a meeting, or at Regency and hand them off.
These are going for $29.95 just about everywhere else BEFORE SHIPPING!!!
If someone wants to get more than one, I'd ask they pay for shipping on each, just to keep it simple.
I'm not taking any cut on this, I can show the PayPal receipt after purchase to prove it. I just want to save some money on my own Nano pump. I need to know by tomorrow night who all wants in. Just PM me, when we get the final head count we'll divide up the shipping and make the order.

Then they buy it from a LFS store that has a it at a price they are willing to pay.
I think it would be great for an LFS to host a group buy. Maybe this is for you.

Rob, do you have #1's and #2's on shelf? If so, can you PM me a price? Thanks!

We've got 10 nano's in stock. $29.99 each, best we can do. It's worth $2.54 to support a local store, right?

I buy all my PVC from Ace Hardware, and it costs me about 15%-20% more, but I like having a hardware store around.

Don't take this post the wrong way, I am looking at it from both sides of the deal. I have a speed shop and relate to both sides. If I have a group willing to commit to a set # of units then we offer a discount. I had a group buy a few months back on Accufab throttle bodies for the Maurader club. I took over $65 off each unit but they bought 15 TB's and everyone was happy. I made less per unit, but more than not selling any at all, or just 1-2.

I see people getting out of this hobby due to financial difficulties, so I would think 2.54 + $2.10 tax + the time & drive to O.P. is alot to some people when they can buy it elsewhere for less or delivered. I hope all tank owners support their local LFS but if the LFS are not willing to host a Group Buy, I can see why people shop the internet. Don't get me wrong we have some LFS that are great I am just looking at both sides.
Ultimatley this boils down to what an individual person is willing and can afford to pay

I hope an LFS and Group buyers can work out a deal..

I think the LFS should make some profit margin, but we should work together to provide a good buy for the club!

If a "walk in" wants to spend $50 - $60 for a maxijet 1200, then so be it, but I can't see a club member paying more than $25 max for the item...

I agree it's important to support the LFS's. This is just something this guy offered to me at another forum since he has some over-stock. I personally hate buying online, but since I know this guy (who owns and runs a couple LFS's in the L.A. area) I don't mind buying directly from him.
At 6pm I'll make my order with him. I'd like to be able to get a couple other people in to make it worthwhile.

Our walkins pay $37.99 for Nano Koralia's, so we are offering a 22% discount. We also offer direct no-hassle exchanges when you have problem. Also, we have done this for reef club members that purchased their items from other stores in the area that are no longer in business.

If you guys want 8 units, we'll do them for $26.00 out the door, tax included, if you print this thread and bring it to the store.

Well, that's a pretty good deal Rob! I already told this guy I would take one, so I'll finish my commitment with him. Next time I need something, I'll be sure to let you know.
