some people on the main page forum id'ed it as Bryropsys, and from what they're saying it bad. Not sure how I got it as my tank has only been up for such a short time but oh well. Does anyone have any experience with this stuff?

Is it only on one rock or everywhere? I have heard of using peroxide from Sallys beauty supply to kill algae but only if you have no fish/inverts in the tank. I have used it my self before with good results but i cant say it will work the same for you also it wasnt that kind of algae.

I used Salon Clear 20 i used one capfull per ten gallons works over a period of 3 days.

If it is on only a few rocks I would take it the rocks out and clean them. I would not use the above mentioned Sally additive.

We isolated some rock in a rubbermaid container and ran the mag at 1600 for about a month. It appears this did a good job of curing the problem. The same rock now resides in the sump (so we can check periodically).
