Flexible PVC Tubing vs. Standard PVC Pipe

I'm trying to decide on which to use for my 75g and with the flexible it would be so easy to plumb my sump. I would use the flexible for both the drain and return.

Can I get some advice and pro's and con's of each please? I'm trying to keep my plumbing as simple as possible.

I should add this is an AGA RR tank drilled on bottom.....

Thank you!

only con with flex pvc is the cost. They will both do the same thing but as you said it may be easier to work with the flex pvc

Flex tubing will allow for better flow with large radius turns. PVC requires elbows at each change of direction and that means pressure drop. PVC also transfers vibration noise....Good Luck...Jack

I say flex pvc if you can afford it. Because of cost we used spa flex and a regular pvc combination.

One issue I found with the flex pvc is the "memory" of the pipe.
It comes in a coil at the store and when you cut off a length for your use it retains the coil shape.
Sometimes it can be a challenge to get it to bend in the shape you want instead of the coil shape.

With flex you have to subject it to a lot of heat to make it relax. I tried setting it in the sun with a weight on it, but I wound up using a steam iron b/c of time.

I replumbed my entire tank with PVC after I had done it with flex. I went with flexible first b/c I thought it would be easier. I think the pvc was a lot easier and I got a better product. I still have flex on my fuge b/c of my seahorses and I have read that the noise transfer and vibration can have an affect on their mating habits. I just think the PVC is cleaner and easier to work with. If you are only going short distances with the flex its alright, but using any considerable amount is a PITA IMO.

Flex does have a memory but it is worth it. Try not to get the last of the roll where there will be more memory because it is tighter.
