Euro-reef nano skimmer

Hi all,

You may know that I have been trying to figure out a better skimming option for my solana. Not that the stock skimmer doesn't work well, I just want more After talking to the folks at Euro-reef, they sent some pics of their prototype nano skimmer. It looks like it will be a healthy skimmer. Of course, it the pictures make it look like form follows function. But I can live with that. Now its time to wait and see what the final design will look like.

I would hold off until they work out the bugs unless you can somehow talk them into letting you be one of the testers.

The concept looks suprisingly like the new Marineland Pro skimmer. They use a bottom mounted Maxijet sump pump with a needlewheel. Other than the finished looked I would say the design is similar.

To the best of my knowledge, there will be several models for the popular nano tanks. They will not stick up out of the tank near as much as the picture. They are of the engineer's test skimmer. The nanos will include a bracket to adjust the height of the skimmer. The bubble production looks awsome from the pictures, I hope it lives up to expectations.

Since I own a current usa solana, the proposed body diameter is 2.75". Because the solana has an annoying sponge holder that wastes about an inch or so of space in the skimmer chamber, you can't go much bigger around. I suppose this is the reason for the rectangular skimmer that is included.

Ben,
I hope to get one of their beta models, but can and will wait for the production models if I don't.

Jadinop,
I like those marineland skimmers, I just wish they would fit in my tank. They look like some serious bang for the buck.

I replaced the stock skimmer in my Solana with a Tunze DOC Nano 9002 and I love it. It sure gets some nasty stuff out. I also have heard that the Deltec MCE300 works great too.
