Huh...I can't imagine why.

Certainly, he is not soley to blame for the death of coral reefs world wide. However, his environmental and international trade policy are contributing significantly. Anybody remember the Kyoto treaty, the rape of the clean air act or the fact that his party strongly supports exporting our manufacturing to countries with little environmental restrictions like China so the rich can get even richer while the rest of us pay for the consequences of increased atmospheric carbon and other environmentally degrading pollutants.

The fact is that the coral reefs ARE disappearing faster than expected. Regardless of whose fault it is. Instead of pointing the finger, do something to help preserve what we have left.

In case you've forgotten, Bush has done something positive for marine life.

What have you done?

It is fantastic that the marine preserve has been established. However, airborne pollutants will render this meaningless if we continue business as usual. Think token gesture.

What have I done?
Written a scientific paper on artifically increasing coral growth via addition of HCO3 and the effects inorganic carbon has on coral health, volunteered months of my time observing and collecting data on endangered seabirds on a 3 acre island in the Northern Atlantic, taking sediment samples in salt bogs to establish invertibrate diversity in different spatial zones, analyzing piles of raw statistical data to determine coral reef health in Bonaire for their government, and even wrestled a seal with a mouth full of bacteria laden teeth (on the Northern Atlantic Island) to cut away a stray fishing net it had become entangled in. Voted against GWB. For all of which I got paid nothing, save the carbon paper for which I was paid 15k a year for 2 years.

What have you done???

Craig, for your first post you sure made it a loaded one. Hopefully we (people w/aquariums) will understand.

Guess Ikaria played into the setup. Saw it coming from a mile away. Politics always cause debates.

Voted for Bush!!!

I guess I can't respond without being political, so I'll have to pass.

Cades (Craig) you win.

The Reef Tank does not allow posting of political commentary. The staff of The Reef Tank believes that while "free speech" is truly one of the gifts we are blessed with, the mission of this community is not enhanced by political discussion. The staff wholeheartedly supports our military troops and we also appreciate that there are vastly opposing viewpoints due to the current political landscape. This policy is in place so that we can all remain friends based on our mutual enjoyment of reef keeping regardless of our political beliefs. Despite this policy we still thank you for wanting to contribute your thoughts to the community and apologize for the necessity of this policy. We hope you will understand that the spirit of this policy is to foster harmony within our community. Please contact any of the staff if you have any concerns regarding this message.
